In 2002, the food bank ministry started giving food to those in need once a week on Sundays. We expanded our services in 2010 by opening a clothing bank due to the increase of the homeless and underprivileged individuals. Both food and clothing banks are open, three times a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
In 2012, we started having a free annual health fair by providing a wide range of services that include primary care and health education to residents throughout Georgia. Hundreds of residents throughout several counties came and it was clear that there was an overwhelming need for a more consistent health clinic that can serve those in need. The fact is that over 19% of residents in Clayton County are uninsured and over 23% of residents are in poverty. So out of this need has come the Place of Hope in its three components:
1) Food bank, 2) Clothing bank, 3) Free health Clinic
We have over 30 volunteer doctors, nurses, mental health professionals and student professionals
Saving lives is our mission. Through our annual health clinics, we have come across patients who have had life-threatening illnesses and had to get proper emergency care at a hospital. We provide preventative care by providing specialty consultations and early diagnosis to health issues such as diabetes and hypertension. Place of Hope, Inc. provides hope to many who otherwise would have none.
